Why did we do it?

As the conflict in Ukraine began, the sight of innocent people suffering was simply unbearable. As a parent, you would do absolutely anything to protect your family and home, what difference if it is someone else's child? Thats certainly what the 1000's of volunteers on the ground believe. After a few weeks of trying, it became clear quickly that volunteering through the mainstream NGOs and charities was not going to work, the only option was to jump on a plane to Poland, proceed to the border and start offering to help. In April 2022, a few weeks after the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian military (for the second time this century) we made a few good contacts, helped some of the millions of Ukrainians crossing the border into the unkknown and seeing the relief and being able to offer a gentle word or smile, it became clear this was the right path. Being on the ground we began to established connections and the fully formed idea started to become clear.

A few phone calls later back to Pittsburgh, and the first pledge of $20,000 USD line of donation for food to be transported to the front lines was made.

1. It dawned on us that no contribution is too small. Saving just one life makes all the effort worth it. 2. The world is filled with kind-hearted individuals who are willing to band together and rally around a single purpose of providing assistance wherever they can. In contrast, evil is relatively scarce. If we can bring these benevolent individuals together, an enormous amount of power can be harnessed to tackle adversity peacefully. 3. It's imperative to remember that we're all interconnected. If it were your child in a similar situation, you would do everything possible to safeguard and defend them. Therefore, it's only right to treat another child with the same empathy and consideration. 4. Rather than sitting back and waiting for someone else to take action, it's time to step up and make a difference. Let's show up and be present in the effort to alleviate suffering. To date, we've raised nearly $100k USD (exact number to be provided later) to aid our cause.
